Borussia Dortmund rule out Erling Haaland departure

Despite a lot of interest from Europe’s top clubs, Borussia Dortmund have ruled out the departure of star man Erling Haaland in the summer.

Haaland has become the hottest prodigy in world football catching the attention of many clubs with the media quoting a figure of £150 million should the club decide to cash in on him.

However, according to one of the club’s executive, the forward will continue at the Signal Iduna Park next season and that the club have no plans to sell him in the summer transfer window.

Pressure has mounted on the German club recently after agent Mino Raiola ignited talks of Haaland’s departure at the end of the current season after meeting with some top clubs to discuss the opportunity to sign the 20-year-old.

However, Dortmund’s sporting director Sebastian Kehl is confident the youngster will be at the club for the 2021/22 campaign.

“I understand that Erling Haaland will play for Borussia Dortmund in the new season,” Kehl told the Sport1 broadcaster’s Doppelpass program. “Erling totally agrees. I see him every day and I can say that he completely identifies with the club.”

Though Dortmund are still firm on their stance, reports in Germany suggest that Haaland staying at the club could depend on the club’s chances of finishing in the top four at the end of the season.

Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City, Barcelona and Real Madrid are among the clubs looking to sign the goal-poacher when the transfer window becomes active in the summer.
