As the Jadon Sancho transfer saga continues, Borussia Dortmund’s Managing Director offered some insight into the strategy the club would undertake should Sancho leave. The Englishman has been the subject of Manchester United for a while, and if the transfer does take place, Borussia Dortmund will explore other attacking options.
Sancho has been crucial to Dortmund’s fight for the Bundesliga title for the 2019/20 season, with 17 goals and 17 assists. Although the club did not win the title, without him they would have landed further down the table.
Michael Zorc, the club’s Managing Director, in an interview with Kicker, confirmed Dortmund’s plans to recover from the possible loss of Jadon Sancho. He said, “If Jadon left, we would do something again in the offensive area. There are certainly one or two players we are targeting.”
For obvious reasons, Zorc hasn’t revealed who the targeted players are, but it will be exciting to see how things unfold. To add on to Zorc’s views, the CEO of Borussia Dortmund, Hans-Joachim Watzke, said “When you don’t have a billionaire or a state backing you up, then you need to be careful how you will invest your money. We don’t have an end date for corona, without that we simply have no planning security. We don’t have an end date for corona, without that we simply have no planning security.”
It is pleasant to hear that although the club are wary of the precarious financial conditions right now, they are willing to bolster the squad with reinforcements if Sancho leaves.
