After consultation with the Borussia Dortmund Health Department, it was decided that Erling Haaland will be available for selection against Hertha Berlin.
During the international break, a member of the Norwegian squad, Omar Elabdellaoui, tested positive for COVID-19. Owing to this, there was speculation over the quarantine procedure which his teammates would have to follow.
There were doubts that all Norwegian players would have to self-isolate for 10 days, including Erling Haaland. However, the club’s health department observed that the 10 day quarantine period was not necessary for the striker.
In a statement they said, “After the player Erling Haaland returned to Dortmund, a detailed questioning about possible contact with another Norwegian player who tested positive could take place. Mr Haaland does not belong to category 1 (close contact). The health department did not have to issue a quarantine order.”
This means that Haaland will be available to play for BVB against Hertha Berlin on Saturday night at the Olympiastadion Berlin.
