Sergio Gomez, Borussia Dortmund’s 19-year-old Spanish attacking midfielder, will spend another season on loan at recently promoted La Liga side SD Huesca. The club were champions of the Segunda Division last year, which means they secure automatic promotion to the La Liga.
Gomez was on loan last season with the side and appeared 36 times for the club, scoring once and assisting three goals. The club confirmed the loan on their official website. The statement read, “Sergio Gomez is set to spend another year on loan at SD Huesca. The midfielder spent the 2019/20 season on loan at the Spanish second-tier side.”
The player announced this on his twitter. He said, “The long wait is over. Very happy to be here again and to be able to take this step in my career. Thanks to SD Huesca for the trust and good luck to Borussia Dortmund this season. Hello La Liga, it is a real dream to meet you!“
In January 2018, Gomez signed for Borussia Dortmund from Barcelona’s youth team. He played the 2018/19 season with the Borussia Dortmund U-19 team before moving to SD Huesca’s senior side at the start of the 2019/20 campaign.
The move to extend his loan for another season at SD Huesca will mutually benefit the Spaniard as well as BVB. It will help Gomez gain playing time in a more competitive league, as the La Liga is a step above the Segunda Division in Spain.
