According to an Italian media outlet, Tuttomercato, Christian Eriksen has attracted interest from Borussia Dortmund. The Inter Milan midfielder has been the subject of multiple transfer rumours, as he was placed on the transfer list, as reported by journalist Mario Sconcerti.
Eriksen joined Inter Milan in January 2020. However, his time at the Italian giants hasn’t gone as planned, scoring only 4 goals and making 3 assists in his 26 appearances for the club in the 2019/20 season. He has played as either an attacking midfielder or central midfielder.
The Danish International has evidently fallen out of favour for Antonio Conte’s side. However, given that the club spent €20m on him, they wouldn’t give up on him so easily.
Even if they are willing to let him go at the right price, the transfer makes very little sense for BVB. Dortmund already have plenty of options in central midfield. Prior to the transfer window, Dortmund already had the likes of Julian Brandt, Thomas Delaney, Emre Can, Axel Witsel, Mahmoud Dahoud as central midfield options. The addition of Jude Bellingham has only made it more competitive.
The only understandable reason for signing Eriksen would be Marco Reus’ injury troubles. However, Reus is fully fit now, and with Reinier Jesus as an additional backup, Eriksen’s possible transfer to Borussia Dortmund doesn’t guarantee him game time.
