Borussia Dortmund forward Erling Haaland on Tuesday defied the odds, as he became the quickest player to score 20 UEFA Champions League goals.

The Norway international’s milestone comes after playing just 14 games in the competition, representing just Red Bull Salzburg and Dortmund.

Haaland found the back of the net twice in Dortmund’s 2-2 draw with Sevilla in the second leg of their round of 16 tie at the Signal Iduna Park.

The record for the quickest to reach 20 goals in the European tournament was previously held by Tottenham Hotspur hitman Harry Kane, who reached that feat after 24 games. But Haaland now surpasses the England international.

His two goals in Tuesday’s game also meant that he becomes the first player ever to score twice in four consecutive games in the Champions League.

That streak started in the back-to-back group stage games against Club Brugge before doing saw against the Spanish sides as well.

Edin Terzic’s side have now secured a spot in the last eight of the 2020/21 UEFA Champions League.
